Trail access along the Arkansas River near the Waterworks Park project is now open. Construction on the $11-million project below City Park and to the east of Pueblo Boulevard continues and visitors are urged to use extreme caution in the area. Foot and cycling traffic only are only on the trails. The new pedestrian bridge that connects the north trail to the south trail is open. Access to the trail on the south side of the river is also reopened, and visitors may enter the area from City Park.
To be more efficient with its billing practices, Pueblo Water is changing its disconnect letter to white paper from yellow paper. PUEBLO WATER IS NO LONGER SENDING YELLOW NOTICES. Please read your bills carefully. If you receive an envelope from Pueblo Water with a red stamped “URGENT OPEN IMMEDIATELY” this means you need to act on your account to avoid service interruption.
Pueblo Water is replacing aging 12-inch cast iron main in advance of future repaving of the street by the City of Pueblo. The project replaces approximately 4,200 feet of pipe from Avocado Street west of Pueblo Boulevard east to Westacres Avenue. Construction is expected between August and November.
As flows on the Arkansas River through Pueblo increase dramatically during runoff season, visitors are reminded to use extreme caution in and around the water. Colorado’s runoff – when the snowpack in the Rocky Mountains begins to melt in earnest and increases water levels in rivers – is beginning soon and could last several weeks or longer.

By rehabilitating the Southside Diversion Dam and Raw Water Intake facility just north of City Park, and by improving the surrounding areas, river users will be able to traverse the Arkansas River from below Pueblo Dam all the way to near Runyon Lake.

The Pueblo Dam tailwater fishery is an outstanding sport fishery for non-native trout species and has been for many years even though that stretch of river occasionally experiences very low flows. Because of multiple years of drought, current hydrologic conditions are once again resulting in unusually low flows on that stretch of river.
The Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce named Pueblo Water as its Business of the Year for 2023. The award, which has been bestowed annually since 1985, recognized the efforts and integrity of Pueblo Water, which began serving the Pueblo community in 1874.

Erosion caused by flows in Fountain Creek over time exposed a portion of the existing 16-inch water main. Pueblo Water used horizontal directional drilling to go approximately 20 to 25 feet under the main channel of the creek. Design on the project began in March and it was completed in June.
Each spring, Pueblo Water plows its two ditches so that the melting snow may freely flow into Tennessee Creek, and then into the Arkansas River as it makes its way downstream to our homes and businesses. While many water providers also need to perform such seasonal maintenance, Pueblo Water is one of the few municipalities (if not the only one) to do it themselves. Not only does plowing ensure that as much water as possible is captured, it also prevents washouts from damaging National Forest Service roads.
