Pueblo Water’s city-wide main replacement program in 2023 will focus on a long stretch of Northern Avenue on the city’s south side.
The City of Pueblo scheduled a paving project on Northern. Pueblo Water is coordinating its own effort to replace the cast iron water main in that stretch of road to minimize the inconvenience to the community.
Pueblo Water will replace a 12-inch cast iron main with 12-inch PVC from Beulah Avenue to Palmer Avenue, and then from Carteret Avenue to Elm Street. This will be approximately 1-mile of main replacement and will take up most of Pueblo Water’s city-wide main replacement budget for 2023. Part of this main replacement will also be a series of 8-inch branch mains off the new 12-inch mains.
Pueblo Water expects a bid opening date of April 4, 2023, for this project.
Since 2000, Pueblo Water has replaced 27.8 miles of aging water mains at a cost of $18.4 million. Since 1981, Pueblo Water has invested nearly $60 million and replaced 143 miles of main, including $15 million to install 66-inch through 84-inch steel raw water main directly from the reservoir.
