PUEBLO, CO – As flows on the Arkansas River through Pueblo increase dramatically during runoff season, visitors are reminded to use extreme caution in and around the water. Colorado’s runoff – when the snowpack in the Rocky Mountains begins to melt in earnest and increases water levels in rivers – is beginning soon and could last several weeks or longer.
Pueblo Water asks visitors and river users to avoid the Waterworks Park area between Pueblo Boulevard and Wild Horse Creek just north of City Park as construction continues. The park is not expected to be completed until the fall of 2024 and there are potential hazards in the river at this time. This is especially true during the high flows of runoff season, which could last three weeks or more.
