What water certificates are required?

There are two types of certifications that are most commonly required for positions at the Board of Water Works.

Water Distribution Operator (Class 1, 2, 3 and 4)

Typical jobs that require the water distribution operator certification include meter readers, construction service workers, field engineering workers, and treating and pumping maintenance workers. Class 1 is the lowest level of certification that can be obtained and Class 4 is the highest.

Water Treatment Operator (Class A, B, C and D)

Typical jobs that require the water treatment operator certification include water treatment operators and specialized treating and pumping maintenance workers. Class D is the lowest level of certification that can be obtained and Class A is the highest.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you have obtained a similar certification from a different state, you may be eligible for reciprocity with the State of Colorado.

After I apply, how soon will I hear anything?

Depending on the position being filled and the number of applicants, the process could take several weeks. After the closing date of the position, all applications are reviewed by the hiring Department.  Once the applications have been reviewed, testing/interviews are scheduled. The process could take several weeks.
