For the safety of visitors and construction workers, access to the Arkansas River near the Waterworks Park project is now restricted. Construction on the $11-million project is underway below City Park and to the east of Pueblo Boulevard.
Foot and cycling traffic are allowed only on the trail to the north of the Arkansas River between Pueblo Boulevard and the Wild Horse Creek pedestrian bridge.
Construction is beginning on Waterworks Park, Pueblo Water’s $11-million rehabilitation project of the Southside Diversion Dam just north of City Park. The project will improve safety on the Arkansas River by creating a passageway that will allow users to ride the river unimpeded.
Every Pueblo Water employee wears a photo ID when on the job. Pueblo Water will be replacing a large water main that will impact traffic near U.S. Highway 50 and Paul Harvey Boulevard. Pate Construction is the contractor on the project. Traffic will be allowed in all directions, but there will be lane changes and delays. This could also restrict traffic flow on William White Boulevard. This main replacement project may take six weeks to complete.
